What's the price?
We strive to make the retreat accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds, considering factors such as travel expenses and the need for independent lodging. We have established a fixed rate of 150€ per retreat. Our intention is twofold: to ensure affordability and to foster a genuine community of like-minded individuals seeking peace. However, we know some people are in a position to contribute more than others and this is why we’ve initiated a “Serene Roots ambassador” status.
Yes, only 150€ per retreat.
What's a Serene Roots Ambassador?
A Serene Roots ambassador believes in our mission and supports the project monetarily. If you possess the means, you can join us in a more impactful way. Instead of the standard 150€ per retreat, ambassadors contribute an annual membership fee, granting them access to a number of retreats and seasonal gift boxes. Ambassadors receive a carefully curated gift box featuring items like a bouquet of lavender, a small bottle of organic apple juice, and a jar of honey – all sourced from local producers. We invite ambassadors to capture a refined, sponsor-like photo with the gift box and share it in a social media post, accompanied by details about Serene Roots.

The Serene Roots Concept
Each retreat follows a curated program complete with a variety of activities including meditative writing, painting, hunting materials, sculpting, hiking, swimming, creating music, and more. Guests have the flexibility to opt out of scheduled activities, and dedicated free time is incorporated into the daily schedule to foster independent inspiration. Once we’re well established, we will also host “discovery time” and reveal our little greenhouse of medicinal herbs. Daily activities will be held in either English or French, depending on the guest list. Retreat dates will begin spring of 2025, and a program will be available starting fall of 2024.
The retreat serves as a safe space in which we share ideas, expressions, and skills. We will set the maximum number of people per retreat at six to establish an atmosphere of intimate friendship. We require potential guests to contact us before selecting a treat so we can book a one-on-one video call. During this call, we will explain how the retreat will be run and our “no criticism” policy so guests can determine if the environment aligns with their needs. The retreat does not include formal training or educational sessions. Rather than teaching specific "how-to" skills, we offer access to various instruments, machines, and materials. Guests are also welcome to bring their own for a more personalized experience.
Debates about the role of criticism in the creative process abound; some argue it enhances brainstorming, while others assert it stifles creativity by directing focus towards acceptance rather than embracing the exploration of unknown paths. At Serene Roots, we align with the latter perspective, influenced by our initial exposure to a "no criticism" policy during a retreat with Suzanne Kingsbury in Paris. This approach fosters an unbridled opening to creativity, prompting us to embrace and endorse variations of the "no criticism" policy.
"Create now, fix later" is the idea. We’ll help guide you through the process of what it means during the one-on-one call as well as at the start of the retreat. If you’re looking for constructive criticism, you might not enjoy this kind of retreat in the way it’s meant. While we acknowledge the value of constructive feedback, the Serene Roots retreat is intentionally designed to provide a space free from such evaluations.
Although we don't position ourselves as a platform for launching "the next big thing," the retreat invites you to embark on an exploration of your creative potential. The primary purpose remains rooted in relaxation, letting go of conventional notions of "success," and embracing a state of simply being. Additionally, we uphold a "What happens in the canyon stays in the canyon" approach, akin to other retreats. Any creations, discussions, or writings shared during the retreat are to remain confidential, with the exception of the individual responsible for them. This ensures a trusting and secure environment for all participants.
